FISHKILL, NY - 2B Ignacio Suarez hit an RBI single to right field in the top of the 13th inning tonight in
front of a capacity crowd of 4,494 at Dutchess Stadium, scoring RF Brandon Moss with what proved to be the winning run as the Lowell Spinners beat the Hudson
Valley Renegades 3-2. Tom Cochran (2-2, 4.68) gave up just one hit in two innings of relief to earn the win for Lowell. Antonio Perez (4-6, 4.30) took the
loss for the Renegades. Zak Basch pitched the bottom of the 13th to pick up his sixth save of the year.
Credit for tonight's game going to extra innings goes to 'Gades RF Matt Rico. With one out in the bottom of
the 9th and the Renegades down 2-1, Rico blasted a Brian Marshall pitch over the left field wall to tie the game. The home run was the sixth of the season for
Rico. The Spinners got on the board first, plating two runs in the top of the first on a double steal in which CF Kevin Jordan stole home and an RBI single
from 3B Claudio Arias. The 'Gades got a run back in the third frame on 2B Fernando Puebla's RBI groundout. Rico finished the night 3 for 5 with an RBI and a
run scored. SS Aneudi Cuevas and CF Nate Dion each got their sixth triples of the season tonight on Baseball Card Night, sponsored by Vac Services and WRRV.
Renegades starter Jarrod Farrell pitched seven solid innings, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk
while striking out eight. Andrew Weimer threw five outstanding innings of relief, allowing only one hit, walking nobody, and striking out six. Moss led the
Lowell attack with three hits.
The Renegades and Spinners conclude their three-game series tomorrow at Dutchess Stadium on Myron Noodleman
Night, sponsored by Key Bank and WRKW. Tony Peguero (4-4, 2.36) will take the mound for Hudson Valley while Lowell's starter is unknown at press time. First
pitch is scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
