Ool lifts team by Renegades
Ex-Marist ace sparks Lowell

FISHKILL -- Maybe the Lowell Spinners should have left Kevin Ool just a little bit longer.
That move might have made for a shorter -- if not less dramatic -- summer night at Dutchess Stadium.
The former Marist College standout threw a scoreless sixth, seventh and eighth inning against the Hudson Valley Renegades Wednesday night, holding a 2-1 lead
for the visitors from Massachusetts.
''I felt I did good,'' said Ool, a Middletown native. ''I threw a lot of strikes. Everything went well.''
In the bottom of the ninth, however, Renegades right fielder Matt Rico took a one-out, 1-0 pitch from Lowell closer Brian Marshall over the left-field wall,
tying the game 2-2 to send the contest into the 10th frame.
Four innings later, the Spinners used a two-out RBI single by Ignactio Suarez to eventually earn a 3-2, 13-inning victory in the teams' second overtime game in
two nights.
''I had a lot of family out there,'' said Ool, whose Red Foxes played at the Fishkill field this past spring in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference
tournament. ''It was great to be back here, actually playing in front of a lot of people. Definitely exciting.''
Ool scattered two hits and struck out three Renegades in his three innings. He was a 16th-round draft selection of the Boston Red Sox.
The Renegades (30-25) and Spinners (31-23) wrap up their three-game set tonight.
