By Citizen Staff Report

LOWELL, Mass. - The Lowell Spinners exacted a measure of revenge for the 25-4 beating they took in front of their home crowd Friday night against the Auburn Doubledays.

Brandon Moss hit an RBI single, his first hit of the game, off of Auburn reliever Davis Romero (4-1) with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning, scoring Jeremy West and giving Lowell a 2-1 victory before a paid attendance 5,000 at LeLacheur Park.

Tom Mastny pitched well in his effort to increase his season record to 9-0, shutting Lowell out over five innings and striking out five while giving up three hits and a walk.

The Spinners (37-33) scored an

unearned run off of Auburn (54-17) reliever Shaun Marcum in the eighth inning to tie the game at 1-1.

Auburn scored its run in the sixth, with Ryan Roberts (2-for-5) knocking Carlo Cota home.

Vito Chiaravalloti, attempting to become the first New York-Penn League triple crown winner since 1972, started at first base and went 0-for-3, dropping his average from .349 to .344. Williamsport's Nyjer Morgan was at .348 entering Saturday's action.

Auburn managed seven hits and stranded 10 runners in the game. Only Roberts had a multiple-hit game.

Lowell closer Brian Marshall (1-1) earned his first win of the season, throwing two shutout innings.
