Hawks Report: Boise closes out series with Yakima with another win
YAKIMA, Wash. — Too bad the Boise Hawks had to leave Yakima.
The Hawks beat the Bears 7-1 on Friday night, completing a three-game sweep and winning their season-high fourth consecutive game.
The Bears have lost four games in a row — and 13 of their last 14 games against the Hawks.
Boise left-hander Sean Marshall (4-3) picked up the win, striking out a career-high 10 in six innings. He allowed one run.
The Hawks scored all of their runs with two-out hits. The party started in the fourth inning when Alan Rick, Tony McQuade and David Gresky each hit RBI
singles to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead.
Brian Dopirak added a two-out RBI double in the fifth and Kyle Boyer followed with an run-scoring triple.
Dopirak hit a two-run home run — his ninth round-tripper of the season — in the seventh inning to give the Hawks a 7-1 lead.
Yakima pitcher Jered Liebeck (2-1) retired 10 consecutive batters before allowing a one-out single to Sammy Rosario in the fourth inning.
The Hawks (16-27) play the first of five games at Salem-Keizer tonight.
