LUGNUTS STUMBLE AGAINST SWING

DAVENPORT, IA- Blah Blah Balsh

The Swing opened the scoring in the game by scoring a pair of runs in the second inning. Brock Peterson, Alex Garcia and Scott Whitrock all collected consecutive hits off Marshall to load the bases with no outs. Justin Arneson followed with a double to left, scoring Peterson and Garcia. But Marshall bore down and fanned the next three hitters to end the threat.

Lansing got on the board in the third when C.J. Medlin walked and went to third on a double by Alfredo Francisco. It broke an 0-29 slump for Lansing's third baseman.

In the seventh, the Lugnuts tied the game at 2-2. Kevin Collins led off with a double and was sacrificed to third by Jake Fox. After Collins was cut down trying to score on a grounder by Robinson Chirinos, the Lugnuts second baseman stole second and came in on a single to left by Medlin.

Both teams then took the tie into the 12th. With one out, Arneson struck again, singling and went to second on Paul Rutgers single. A wild pitch by Willett got the runners up to second and third and Span singled on a 2-2 count to win the game.

The series continues Thursday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. as Ed Campusano takes the mound for Lansing.
