Iowa sweeps RedHawks with 5-3 win
August 22, 2006
Michael Restovich's three-run homer lifted Iowa to a 5-3 victory over visiting
Oklahoma as the Cubs completed a four-game sweep on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cubs (67-64) came to bat in the seventh inning trailing by a score of
3-1. Jose Reyes and Felix Pie singled to put runners on first and third with two
outs. Eric Patterson then contributed an RBI single before Restovich's blast
gave Iowa the lead for good.
The Cubs got on the board in the first inning, as Patterson singled and
eventually scored. The speedy second baseman has collected eight hits over 15
at-bats since making his Iowa debut on August 19.
Brandon Emanuel (1-2) tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win.
Rehabbing Major Leaguer Sean Marshall made his third start for Iowa and allowed
five hits over six scoreless innings. The 23-year-old lefty has been on the
disabled list since July 23 due to a strained left oblique muscle. Andy Shipman
came on in relief of Marshall and allowed three runs without retiring a batter.
The RedHawks (67-64) scored all of their runs in the seventh inning. Aarom
Baldiris contributed an RBI single, while Adam Morrissey came through with a
two-run double.
Erasmo Ramirez (6-3) allowed four seventh-inning runs and took the loss.
