Southern League Game Summary - West Tenn at Montgomery

05/16/2004
Montgomery, AL (Sports Network) - Joey Gathright was 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored, as the Montgomery Biscuits pounded out 17 hits en route to a 10-4 victory over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. The top three hitters in Montgomery's lineup -- Gathright, Fernando Cortez and Dan DeMent -- combined to go 11-for-14 with three RBI and four runs scored, as West Tenn had its 10- game win streak halted. Matt Bowser singled in a run and scored another during a four-run second inning that put Montgomery ahead to stay. Gathright doubled in a pair of runs during the outburst. Montgomery added two runs in each of the third and fourth innings to double its lead to 8-0. Biscuits' starter Chris Seddon (1-0) was the recipient of the offensive explosion and got the win. He allowed just four hits and a walk and fanned six in five shutout innings. West Tenn starter Sean Marshall (0-1) was throttled, as he allowed 10 hits and six runs in three innings of work. Montgomery (13-24), the basement dweller in the Western Division of the Southern League, avoided the sweep against division leader West Tenn (21-15). The Biscuits won for just the second time in 11 games.
