Lugnuts split doubleheader
in Burlington

BURLINGTON, Iowa - Robinson Chirinos' RBI triple was the key hit as the
Lansing Lugnuts broke open a tie game with two runs in the seventh inning on
their way to a 4-2 victory and a split of their Midwest League doubleheader with
Burlington on Thursday.
Burlington won the first game, 5-3.
Clay Rapada (1-1) worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings to get the win in game two.
Adalberto Mendez pitched the final inning for his 10th save.
In the first game, Ronald Bay (3-3) allowed eight hits and five runs over
five innings to take the loss.
Lansing's runs came on an RBI double by Carlos Rojas, a run-scoring single by
Carlos Mejia and a sacrifice fly by C.J. Medlin.
The two teams play again at 8 tonight. Carlos Marmol (3-0, 1.83 ERA) will
start for Lansing against Chris Goodman (0-2, 3.18).
In a roster move Thursday, lefthanded pitcher Sean
Marshall was promoted to Double-A West Tennessee. He went 2-0 with a
1.11 ERA in Lansing.
No roster replacement has been announced.
