DENVER -- The Rockies broke a tie in the sixth inning for the second straight day to beat the Cubs 6-3 Sunday at Coors Field.

Kerry Wood (0-1) gave up three runs in the sixth in his third outing since returning from the disabled list. The Rockies took the lead on rookie Troy Tulowitzki's two-run double. They were the first runs Wood had given up since his return.

The Cubs continued to stay a stone's toss away from the Brewers in the NL Central. The Cubs have been within 1 1/2 games of the division lead or closer since July 28 and remained there with the Brewers loss Sunday.

After scoring 16 runs in the first two games in Colorado, the Cubs managed only five over the weekend.

They took a 3-2 lead during the fourth inning and chased Tim Harikkala, who was starting his first Major League game this season. The Cubs scored on two RBI singles by Jason Kendall and Ryan Theriot. Mark DeRosa also scored on a Felix Pie groundout.

But Rockies reliever Matt Herges relieved Harikkala with runners at the corners and forced Jacque Jones into an inning-ending double play.

The Rockies relievers held the Cubs scoreless and hitless over the final 5 2/3 innings.

Sean Marshall left the game tied after five innings. The Rockies tied the game in the fifth against Marshall on a Tulowitzki solo homer.

The Cubs ended the Rockies' streak of nine straight series victories at home and had a chance to be the first visiting team since mid-May to take a series at Coors Field. But the Rockies outscored the Cubs 22-5 after dropping the first two.
