The Cubs and Sounds meet in games three and four of their five-game series today. After winning the series opener on Geovany Soto's walk-off homer Monday, the Cubs were pounded 14-4

Tuesday night. Today, Iowa left-handers Sean Marshall and J.R. Mathes will face Sounds knuckleballer

R.A. Dickey and southpaw Lindsay Gulin.

TODAY'S STARTER: Sean Marshall make his 2007 Iowa debut after making one start for class-A

Daytona in the Florida State League on April 25. Marshall missed most of spring training with left shoulder

fatigue and was limited to one inning in one game with the big league club. Marshall started 24 games for

Chicago in 2006 and four with Iowa on a rehab assignment with a strained oblique. J.R. Mathes makes his

sixth start for Iowa. The Cubs are 3-2 in games started by Mathes, and have supported him with five runs per

game. He was 10-8 with a 3.27 ERA in 27 starts for double-A West Tenn in 2006, while throwing three

complete games and one shutout. He walked just 31 batters in 159.2 innings and fanned 114.

CUBS VS. SOUNDS: The Sounds lead the season series 5-1 (Cubs are 1-1 in Des Moines and 0-4 in

Nashville). The Cubs were 7-9 against the Sounds in 2006, and the clubs tied for the division championship.

Nashville advanced to the playoffs thanks to the season series win over Iowa. The Cubs were 5-3 in Des

Moines and 2-6 in Nashville in 2006. Since the PCL was formed in 1998, Iowa is 48-70 against the Sounds
