Marlins Rally Past Cubs
An eighth-inning meltdown cost the Cubs a game in the standings on Friday, as they fell to the Florida Marlins 5-2. After Jake Fox's two-run blast in the seventh brought Chicago back to even, setup man Carlos Marmol surrendered a run and loaded the bases for Sean Marshall in the eighth. Florida's Wes Helms then turned Marshall's 2-2 slider into double, scoring the runners from second and third. The late rally unravelled five solid innings by Rich Harden, who allowed two runs and struck out a season-high 11 batters. Despite the loss, the Cubs picked up four games in the standings over the month of July and are 12-4 since the All-Star break. They'll look to continue their winning ways when they step in at 6:10 this evening.
