CHICAGO -- Alfonso Soriano singled, stole second, reached third on a wild pitch and scored on pinch-hitter Xavier Nady's single in the eighth inning to lift the Cubs to a 4-3 win Sunday over the Pittsburgh Pirates and avoid a sweep.

With the game tied at 3 and one out in the eighth, Soriano singled to right off D.J. Carrasco (1-1). One out later, Soriano stole second and scampered to third on a wild pitch.

Geovany Soto walked and Nady lined a 2-2 pitch to right for the game-winner. Sean Marshall (2-1) picked up the win in relief.

With the win, Lou Piniella became the 14th manager in Major League history to reach 1,800 wins in his career. It was only Chicago's second in its last eight games.
